Many of you know that I simply love the Breakfast Bread from Publix. I was first introduced to this most delicious bakery item by my friend Ann. I was at her house one day and she toasted up a slice for me. I was sold. Upon moving to Texas, almost two years ago, I lamented over the fact that I would be without Publix, let alone Breakfast Bread. I posted this fact once on my blog and ever since that heartbreaking confession, that beloved bread has continued to find its' way to my heart and belly.
My friend Ann over nighted two loaves for me once. Whenever my Florida friends come to visit they usually bring a loaf along in their luggage. During our recent visit to Orlando I was blessed with not one, not two, but three loaves! One I purchased and two others from friends. I brought a loaf home and placed it in the freezer for one of those days where I need to connect to Publix.
I googled Publix Breakfast Bread and it came up with 43,100 results! Pretty impressive undertaking for a symphony of raisins, walnuts, dried apricots, and other hearty morsels. The search also provided an interesting site called- Uncle Phaedres Consulting Detective and Finder of Lost Recipes. Their motto is: We find answers to questions and solutions to problems. Who? What? Where? When? Why? Which? How? Recipes, food, cooking, beverages, history, science, popular culture, geography, sociology, psychology, trivia, etc.... (http://www.hungrybrowser.com/phaedrus/)
According to their 2003 archives someone had requested the recipe for Publix Breakfast Bread which resulted in another website of someone's attempt to make the bread at home. I think I'll just stick to the original stuff.
